Lay Parish Evangelists

Over the last ten years there has been a growing band of folk authorised as ‘Lay Parish Evangelists’. There may be one in a parish near you – or even in your own.

They are ordinary church members, with a concern to share the good news, in whatever ways are appropriate, in their parishes. They have been authorised by the Bishop after undertaking the diocesan training programme.

But perhaps they could be of value elsewhere too?

If you are thinking of holding a special weekend, event, or a longer outreach programme, and would like some outsiders to come and help, these may be the folk for you.

A team, of the size that would fit your parish, would be delighted to come and help, in whatever ways you would find valuable. There is no ‘package’ they would seek to impose. They would be drawn from a variety of other parishes, and may be led by Ian Smith, the Diocesan Missioner, or David Rhodes, vicar of Totley, who has recently been asked to be involved in this work.
