BISHOP CYRIL ON WALK

Bishop Cyril will join the Archbishop of Canterbury, in putting a foot down on poverty when he walks alongside hundreds of other Anglican bishops in London on 24th July to challenge global governments to reach targets on tackling poverty. He will join the unprecedented walk of bishops and other faith leaders through central London as they demonstrate their commitment to help end extreme poverty across the globe. He said:“As a participating bishop I am looking forward very much to the Lambeth Conference and the opportunity it gives bishops of the Anglican Communion to meet together, pray and share insights about our common mission in the world,” Bishop Ashton said today

He added: “I feel that the London Day, which will call on world leaders to keep the promise to deliver the Millennium Development Goals, is a very positive statement to make.  Our care for the world's poor is a high priority and we want the country to know that's what we are about”.

The walk is organised by Micah Challenge:

Micah Challenge UK is a coalition of Christian organisations and churches in Britain, united in their concern to fight global poverty. It is part of the international Micah Challenge movement of churches and Christian agencies uniting to hold their governments to account for the promises they made towards the fulfilment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger by 2015.
