This week, the Church remembers: Henry, John and Henry Venn the Younger, priests, Evangelical divines (1797, 1813 and 1873) today; Thomas the Apostle on Thursday 3rd July 2008.
This Sunday is the Seventh Sunday after Trinity.
The Charities Act 2006 requires all parishes with an annual income of £100,000 pa or more to register with the Charity Commission, starting this October. The Diocese of Sheffield is working with the support of the national church as one of two pilot dioceses to help parishes with this process.
A meeting was held on 17th June with those parishes with income known to be above this threshold. Although the procedure is fairly straightforward, there are some important guidance notes which need to be followed if registration is to be successfully achieved.
NO PARISH SHOULD REGISTER WITHOUT SEEKING ADVICE FROM THE DIOCESE.
If your 2007 income was £100,000 or above, and you did not attend this meeting, please contact Nick Hutton at Church House Rotherham on 01709 309151 or nick.hutton@sheffield.anglican.org for guidance.

We ask you to pray this week (2nd - 8th July) for people from the following occupations;- Bricklayers and other skilled construction workers. The Occupational Prayer Cycle, which runs week by week, covers nearly all occupations over the course of the year. It is produced by South Yorkshire Workplace Chaplaincy (SYWC), and more information can be found on their website at http://www.sywc.org.uk/opc/. SYWC chaplains at large manufacturing sites go on site to support everyone. This can be more difficult in the case of contractors, who may not be there for long and have a different relationship with the place from the relationship that permanent employees have.
