| The Sheffield Diocesan Communications Department
The Sheffield Diocesan Communications Department is headed up by Revd Rob Marshall, a consultant in Public Relations. Rob is former Diocesan Communications Officer in the Diocese of Bradford. He was also the first Communications Officer for the Diocese of London. He was then media adviser to the Archbishop of York.
The Communications Department offers full support to the Bishop and his staff, the deaneries and the parishes as well as having an overview of the website, diocesan publications and training. The work is monitored by a Communications Group headed up by the Archdeacon of Doncaster, Ven Bob Fitzharris, who reports direct to the Bishop's Council.
Media Office
The new media office was put in place in 2001, and in the past 12 months, the manner in which the Diocese has communicated, both internally and externally has improved dramatically. With a database reflecting international, national, regional, local and specialist media titles, the Diocese is now spreading its good news further than ever.
The Diocese is issuing more and more proactive media notices, resulting in an increased awareness of what the Diocese does both the in the media, and in the public. They are regularly published on this website.
We are also on hand to respond to any media enquiries, and deal with any reactive stories that may break without warning. This website and other publications!
This website and other publications!
As reported to the last Diocesan Synod, there are to be some important changes to the flow of internal news and information throughout 2007.
The Website and Parish Magazines
This site will undergo development throughout the New Year making it the hub of diocesan news and communications. As from February the monthly Bishop's letter (every month) and news copy for parish newsletters (every week) will be put online for parishes to download and use them in whatever format is best for them. Parish magazine editors will be encouraged to use the website as a news resource.
