The Cathedral Church of St Peter & St Paul

A message from the Dean: the Very Revd Peter Bradley

The Cathedral stands in the heart of Sheffield, and serves the city, the Diocese of Sheffield, and the region.

We are a community of Christians living locally and gathered from elsewhere, who are seeking to deepen our faith, respond to the gospel, care for one another, and provide a welcome for all who are searching for God.

Thanks to the considerable generosity of many public, corporate, church, and individual donors, we have just completed work on our Community Resources Centre, which was opened in March 2007 by HRH the Princess Royal. It houses the Cathedral Archer Project, and will allow us to develop our ministry to serve the poor, homeless, and vulnerable of Sheffield. It also offers space for mission through the arts, music, and education, and will be a valuable resource for the city and region.

As a Cathedral, we are the Bishop's church in the Diocese, and we aim to support our sisters and brothers in the Diocese of Sheffield in leading the mission of the Church of England throughout South Yorkshire. We pray for the county, and offer hospitality for many large services and other public events.

We worship in many different styles, all of which seek to find a language to bring our lives to the Lord, and to reveal God more fully in our world. There are services every week day: Morning Prayer at 0845, Communion at 1230 (and 1030 on Wednesdays), and either Evening Prayer at 1630 or Choral Evensong at 1745. On Sundays Communion is celebrated at 0800 (Book of Common Prayer), and 1030 (Common Worship Sung Eucharist); Choral Evensong is at 1830. Full details of all our services, including our Godly Play provision for children, can be found on our website.

Whether you are an enquirer or an historian, a person of vision or a weary traveller, we welcome you into our community to worship God. We hope that you will find a home here, and will encourage others to know that this is a place for all people.
